AAP FLU VACCINE RECOMMEDATIONS UPDATE: NO CHANGES FOR THE 2022-2023 SEASON

The AAP have announced their will be no changes made regarding flu recommendations for the 2022-2023 season. This guidance is the same recommendation issued for the 2021-2022 season.  Practices can use either flu shots or nasal spray flu vaccines for their patients. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is expected to meet in June but also anticipates no changes.

The AAP FLU recommendations include the following:
  • Children 6 months and older should be vaccinated
  • Any licensed influenza vaccine appropriate by age and health status can be used
  • The AAP does not prefer any product over another for children and adolescents with no contraindications
  • Children who are eligible for both a flu and COVID-19 vaccine can receive them at the same visit
